Red salmon (sockeye salmon): Sockeye make their way into the Naknek River beginning in late June reaching their peak around the 4th of July and available until about mid-month. They number in the millions and contribute vastly to the regions rich abundance from the aquatic life to the trophy trout fishery to the commercial fishing industry that thrives in King Salmon.
Sockeye bag limits on the Naknek are currently 5 per day, 5 in possession. Sockeye on the Naknek average about 6 to 7 pounds but can tip the scales at over 10 pounds.
