About

Your Hosts: Jerry and Susan Klassen

Hosts Jerry and Susan Klassen are enthusiastic Naknek River fishing lodge hosts who love the Naknek River, the village of King Salmon and all the wonders of Bristol Bay. Visiting King Salmon annually for almost 20 years turned into a family tradition and the Klassens fell for the Naknek so hard they decided to take up residency. Now they are renovating and rebuilding Fox Bay Lodge into one of Alaska’s premier full-service, salmon and trout fishing lodges located just downstream from the rapids on the Naknek River. Jerry and Susan have lived in Bakersfield, California for the last 41 years. They have a son and a daughter and 3 grandchildren. Jerry and his brothers built a renowned architecture, design and building company that continues to facilitate construction projects across the country. Jerry’s knowledge and passion for building has helped him reconstruct Fox Bay Lodge into a superb, first-class lodge. Jerry and Susan are both warm, welcoming hosts and to spend time with them is a delight.

A Message from Your Host:

Dear Guests:
Welcome to Fox Bay Lodge. We are located in Southwest Alaska in the city of King Salmon where we fish the tributaries of Bristol Bay. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, offering world-class sport fishing and incredible wildlife viewing! We have only one requirement for our clients, Have Fun!

We fish all species of salmon, world class rainbow trout and Arctic char in July, August and September. Included are six nights of lodging, five days of guided fishing, rods and reels, all flies, lures and tackle. Your gourmet meals will be prepared by our professional chef. You will have your own cozy cabin with a king size bed just a few feet from the Naknek River. Our guides have a combined 70 years of fishing experience on the Naknek River; they are the best! Fox Bay Lodge is easily accessible, only minutes from the King Salmon Airport. This close proximity makes it easy to arrive and depart from our lodge.

I’ve been asked why I wanted to buy a fishing lodge in Bristol Bay. After years of working extremely hard I didn’t want to get to the end of my life and look back and say I wish I would have spent more time with my kids. I started fishing the Naknek River with my longtime friend Ted and my son Jimmy. By the time we reached the third consecutive year of fishing we had started a legacy that continues to this day. Our love of King Salmon and the Naknek River intrigued us to start looking for our own getaway.

After nearly seven years of searching for property we finally found Fox Bay Lodge. We immediately fell in love with the location and saw the possibility of developing an intimate and unique lodge right on the Naknek River. Susan and I are looking forward to hosting many clients, families and friends at our lodge. We want to share the beauty of Alaska with families and friends in the hopes they will get to spend some much-needed time together and develop a tradition of their own. We feel so fortunate, to not only spend time with our kids, but God has blessed us with three wonderful grandsons to help grow. We think that’s the most important part of life and that is why we started Fox Bay Lodge. The story of Fox Bay Lodge gets better and better each year and we would love you to be part of it. It truly is “The ultimate Alaska experience”.

If you have any questions, I welcome your call at 661-706-3495. We look forward to seeing you at Fox Bay Lodge!

Remember, “Have Fun”,

Jerry Klassen
